I'm sure you've missed my charm and unique wit for the past few weeks. Actually, I know you're all just here for the miscellaneous Apple tidbits though, so here's what's been going on:
In my mind, just getting to work in the same office complex of Steve Jobs is enough of a perk, but apparently Apple employees get more perks than just that. Two new transportation perks have been added as well, including a Google-esque shuttle, complete with WiFi, and a car washing service that will visit the Apple parking lots from time to time.In case you were wondering how Apple is going to avoid iPhone warranty issues next, wonder no more. Apple is apparently only offering extended iPhone support to AT&T account holders, meaning that anyone who cancels their AT&T account (or never had one) is only entitled to 90 days of support plus the 1-year hardware warranty. If your iPod classic has been extra-noisy lately, it could be due to a bug in the 1.0.2 update that causes the drive to keep on spinning. Sure, getting your battery drained faster sucks, but what's even worse is that a constantly spinning platter increases your risk of iPod damage if you bump it. So remember, if you iPod classic is spinning all the time, place it on a table softly, and slowly back away. Apple has added a number of new iPhone ads, with more people describing their iPhone experiences. Now that Apple is back to using real people, can Ellen Feiss do another one? Because that would be, like, totally sweet. Duuuuude.Apparently smudges and fingerprints on the iPhone's screen are a bigger problem than I thought, since a company is now offering Phone Fingers to keep your screen clean. What may be even worse than the idea is the execution: these aren't single finger gloves or anything, they're finger condoms. "Phone Fingers are made of very thin durable latex material," which you "gently uproll" on your finger. If you can handle the embarrassment of using these, you can buy 25 for just south of €10. Or you can just pop into the family planning aisle of a pharmacy and buy the same thing for less.
I don't think I can top prophylactics being used with multi-touch electronics, so I'm just going to stop there. But don't buy those. Please. Just buy one of those little cloths; I'm sure it's cheaper and less mortifying. And of course, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the late-summer weather if it's still warm where you are.
